2012 G8/NATO Summit Meeting (Burnham)

  • As you may be aware, the City of Chicago is hosting the Group of 8 and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (G8/NATO) summits  this year from May 19th to May 21st.

  • The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has declared the G8 and NATO Summits a National Special Security Event and the Coast Guard is exercising its authority to secure the area.

  • The U. S. Coast Guard has asked the Chicago Park District to delay the opening of Burnham Harbor until May 24, 2012.

  • However, we will provide space for all Burnham Harbor boaters at the new harbor at 31st Street.

2012 Renewal Invoices

  • Invoices to renew mooring assignments for the 2012 season were mailed out between December 19th and December 23rd.

  • Payments will be accepted beginning January 3rd.

  • Invoices will be due February 15, 2012.

  • Invoices received after February 15th but before March 1st will be subject to a $75.00 late fee.

  • If invoices are not paid in full by March 1, 2012, permittees may be subject to a reinstatement fee and may lose their previous assignment.

  • Please refer to the letter and payment notice that came with your invoice or click below to view them.

  • If you do not want to pay the advance rate for the parking cards or have lost or discarded them, simply cross out the line or lines for the parking cards and deduct that amount from your payment.

  • If you need another copy of your invoice, you will need to provide a valid photo ID either in person or by fax or email.

Chicago Harbors Application & Transfer Process

  • Applications and transfers are now being accepted for all Chicago Harbors, including our new harbor at 31st Street.

  • Transfers for current permittees will start the second week of March, after we have determined who has not renewed and what spaces are available.

  • Transfers and New Applicant assignments are done in the following order:

    • Transfers within a harbor by date order.

    • Transfers between harbors in date order.

    • New Applicants by date order.

  • Be advised there may be several rounds of Transfers and New Applicant Assignments.

Chicago Harbors Closed for 2011

  • The 2011 Harbor season ended October 31st and the Late Leaver season ended November 15th.

  • All Chicago Harbors including the new harbor at 31st Street will open on May 1, 2012.


 

Parking Card Notice

 

Please remember to keep your 2011 parking cards for next season. There will be additional fees for any new cards issued next season.

  • 1st parking card issued (lowest number) will be re-activated at no charge.

  • Additional cards will be re-activated at 2011 price if paid with seasonal mooring invoice prior to March 1st.

  • 1st parking cards lost will pay a $25 replacement fee at check-in.

  • Additional cards paid with invoice and then lost will pay a $25 replacement fee at check-in.

  • Additional cards not paid with seasonal mooring invoice will pay the 2012 parking card rates at check-in.

  • This applies to all harbors except Monroe.
