CHICAGO HARBORS
The Chicago Park District's 10 lakefront harbors, including the
new harbor at 31st Street, stretch from Lincoln Park in the northern
part of the city to Jackson Park in the south. WIth accomodations for
6000 boats, the Chicago Park District Harbors constitute the nation's
largest municipal harbor system and feature state-of-the-art floating
docks, moorings, star docks, fuel facilities and other ammenities for
Chicago boaters and their guests. Since 1996, the Park District has
invested more than 178 million dollars to renovate and modernize harbor
facilities. The harbors are very popular with area boaters and have
enjoyed occupancies in excess of 98% for the past several years. The
harbors are managed by Westrec Marinas of Encino, California in
partnership with the Chicago Park District. |
